Interproximal Reduction

POSTERIOR IPR

Many experts in sequential aligner therapy are choosing posterior IPR to primarily create space in lieu of reducing the anterior segment. IPR in between canines and premolars or between the premolars is far less technique sensitive and more forgiving in terms of  disrupting anterior tooth morphology.

Once space is created to alleviate crowding in the anteriors by both expansion and posterior IPR, having the option of anterior IPR to minimise residual black triangles is particularly useful, especially in older patients where bone loss is common.
